To my knowledge there is only one school for gifted ( - broken link) children in Houston, but many schools for children with above average intelligence that might suit the needs of a giften individual. So, what options do parents of younger GT children have here? Do you just wait until they enter kindergarten to address their needs and go from there?Ī few private schools in the area use the testing service listed below. Most places that I have researched here in Houston don't even have programs for GT children in the early childhood years like they do in the northeast. I'm not from Houston and I really want to make the right educational decision for my child. My reason for asking this is because according to my child's pediatrician and my husband (who was also a GT child & a Johns Hopkins grad) both think that my preschooler portrays the traits of a GT child. I would like to know what have your and your child's experiences been like in private schools versus public in regards to their GT program? Also, I reside in Katy, but I do not mine a school in Houston which caters specifically to GT children.

I will like to know if this is truly the case here in Houston?
